Islam is by far the dominant religion in Uzbekistan, as Muslims constitute 79% of the population while 5% of the population follow Russian Orthodox Christianity, 16% other religious and non-religious. An estimated 93,000 Jews were once present. Despite its predominance, the practice of Islam is far from monolithic. Many versions of the faith have been practiced in Uzbekistan. The conflict of Islamic tradition with various agendas of reform or secularization throughout the 20th century has left the outside world with a confused notion of Islamic practices in Central Asia. In Uzbekistan the end of Soviet power did not bring an upsurge of Islamic fundamentalism, as many had predicted, but rather a gradual reacquaintance with the precepts of the faith. However, after 2000, there seems to be a rise of support in favor of the Islamists, which is whipped up by the repressive measures of the authoritarian regime.

  1. It’s time to march on the streets where the politicians live, their kids, etc. Maybe if they feel threatened, something might change. This is so sad, but NY wanted these people, so NY better rise up against their own politicians and remove them from office. I would be furious with all them today, get the hell out of NY if you have kids.

Corrupt Dems, Reps, etc. have blood on their hands. This will continue to happen, no more refuges President Trump, no more!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Together with everything that seems to be developing throughout this particular subject matter, your opinions are relatively radical. On the other hand, I appologize, but I do not subscribe to your whole idea, all be it stimulating none the less. It looks to us that your comments are not totally justified and in reality you are generally yourself not really entirely certain of the point. In any case I did enjoy reading through it.

  5. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100 positive. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
